ANALYSIS OF SOME CONCEPTS OF ABHIDHARMAKOSAKARIKA IN THE HISTORICAL SOURCE TEXTS OF MONGOLIAN BUDDHISM

The article concerns with such a historical source on the spread of Buddhism as the Abhidharmakosakarika, composed by the well-known Indian philosopher Vasubandhu.The cosmological ideas in Abhidharmakosakarika include the location, directions, and shapes of the continents, the unique characteristics of the body and the age of the living beings there, the ideology and content of the Buddhist teachings, the translation process and date of Abhidharmakosakarika into the Mongolian language, and the honoring of Mongolian kings as Chakravartin kings, as quoted in the sources mentioned above. The paper aims to analyze these concepts and discuss how the influence of Abhidharmakosakarika impacted Mongolian Buddhist historiography.

Статья анализирует такой известный исторический источник по истории распространения буддизма в Монголии как Абхидхармакошакарика. В контексте статьи автор рассматривает и анализирует такие космологические постулаты этого сочинения как локация континентов, их направление, уникальные сущностные характеристики человека, идеология и содержание буддийского учения, история монгольских правителей в статусе чакравартинов, а также обращает особое внимание читателя на трудности перевода этого известного источника на монгольский язык.
