of Buryat lamas who have attained the highest scholarly degree of Geshe in the Indian monastery-university of Drepung Gomang. Upon returning to Buryatia after completing their studies, they serve in datsans and engage in teaching activities at Russia&#8217;s only Buddhist University \u00abDashi Choinkhorlin\u00bb. Over the past decade Buryat Geshes have systematically given teachings on Buddhist philosophy at the request of laypeople in Buryat and Russian languages.
