WITH THE VENERABLE SIK HIN HUNG AND ANITA LAM KUEN<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Debenova Z. A.<\/p>\n<p>On August 30\u201331, 2025, the University of Hong Kong (\u9999\u6e2f\u5927\u5b66) hosted the Buddhist studies conference \u201cTracing the Threads \u2013 the Enduring Legacy of Buddhist Transmission,\u201d dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Buddhist monastery and educational institution Tung Lin Kok Yuen, founded in 1935 by Lady Clara Ho Tung and her husband, Sir Robert Ho Tung. The conference was attended by representatives of the Institute for Mongolian, Buddhist and Tibetan Studies of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IMBTS SB RAS), including Doctor of Philosophy, Chief Researcher I. S. Urbanaeva and Junior Researcher Z. A. Debenova. As part of the conference, an interview was conducted with the Venerable Sik Hin Hung and his disciple Anita Lam Kuen. The published interview constitutes a valuable source for the study of contemporary Buddhism in Hong Kong and the modes of transmission of the Buddhist tradition in a global context. Particular attention is paid to the interaction between tradition and modernity, the transmission of Buddhist values in an urban environment, and the significance of mentorship within the lineage of teaching transmission. The perspective of the disciple, Anita Lam Kuen, complements the interview with reflections on forms of discipleship, motivation, and everyday practice within a contemporary Buddhist community. This interview is introduced into academic circulation and may be used in research on Buddhist studies, religious anthropology, and transnational religious practices.
